This Is Our Story….. This is Our Song
Bryan Goins & River Road is a bluegrass-gospel band from Bluefield, West Virginia. The band was founded by Bryan Goins in 2010, along with his father James Goins of Bluefield, West Virginia on bass guitar.
Bluegrass roots run deep for Bryan and his father, James. James, the brother of West Virginia Music Hall of Fame members Melvin and Ray Goins of The Goins Brothers, found his own success as part of The Goins Brothers II Edition with brothers Conley and Harold Goins. The trio spent 30 years sharing the message of Jesus Christ through song in churches throughout the southern United States. With the passing of Conley in 2010, Bryan was determined to carry on the family tradition of spreading the gospel through bluegrass music. His journey into bluegrass came quickly and naturally and soon BG & RR was formed.
Since the founding of BG & RR the band has had the opportunity to play a variety of bluegrass festivals and church revivals throughout West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. Some of their most memorable performances include sharing the stage with bluegrass legends J.D. Crowe, Doyle Lawson, and Ralph Stanley at a 2011 benefit concert in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, as well as a performance at the 2012 West Virginia State Fair. The highlight of Bryan’s musical career, however, came in 2011 when he shared the Grand Ole Opry stage for a performance with Melvin Goins and Grand Ole Opry member Mike Snider. Bryan was fortunate to receive an invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry again in 2012 and 2013. Most recently, Christopher was afforded the same opportunity and made his Grand Ole Opry debut in February 2015.
In addition to the profound influence of Bryan’s own family, BG & RR proudly draw their influence from traditional bluegrass bands and artists such as The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, and The Bluegrass Album Band. While the band enjoys entertaining audiences with beloved bluegrass songs that their fans will know by heart, concert-goers will also enjoy several original songs written by Bryan, as well as some good, old-fashion gospel.
Bryan and James look forward to another amazing year of traveling, meeting new fans, and pickin’ some tried and true bluegrass and gospel music.
